Designs released for $10 million Parap Preschool

The designs for the $10 million Parap Preschool have been released, with the demolition of the old site nearing completion.
The $10 million project has been designed by Rossi Architects. From the road, the new building design resembles the wings of an aeroplane, reminiscent of the site’s aviation origins, while the inside boasts modern learning spaces with high ceilings and plenty of natural light.
The large outdoor space features a playground covered by a solid shade structure set on soft rubber flooring, vegetable gardens, wall murals, water features and greenery spread across the entire play area.
The new state-of-the-art preschool will include a carpark with 18 bays and be able to accommodate 66 students, with a construction tender due to be released this month.
“The power of pre-school should not be underestimated, evidence shows education in the early years of a child’s life gives them the best shot of growing into happy, healthy, successful adults,” Northern Territory Minister for Education Mark Monaghan said.
“This Parap preschool project will be the pinnacle of early-childhood education in the Territory.”
For Brent Potter, Member for Fannie Bay, the announcement of the design is “a significant achievement for the community of Fannie Bay,” with children, teachers and parents set to greatly benefit from the new state-of-the-art early learning centre.
“Education changes lives, and as a local member I will continue to ensure the education facilities we have here in Fannie Bay continue to meet and exceed community expectations,” he added
