Five new modular kindergartens for Victoria are on the way

Victoria will open five new modular kindergartens across the state in 2025 to address demand for early learning in growing communities.
The locations of the new builds were announced last week by Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn, with all five sites slated to be operational for the start of the 2025 academic year.
“These new modular kinders will give more children in some of our fastest growing areas the chance to attend a great local kindergarten, where they can learn, play and make new friends,” the Minister said.
Modular kindergartens are constructed off-site in a factory, in sections known as modulars, to take advantage of quicker construction time and reduced disruptions, costs and risks.
A one room kindergarten and playground will be constructed on the school grounds of Swifts Creek P-12 school, replacing the existing kindergarten in Swifts Creek, and increasing the number of enrolled places by 34.
Nhill College will also receive an additional one room kindergarten, a playground, and car parking, boosting the number of early learning places in the community by 33.
At Dover Street Preschool, the existing kindergarten will be replaced with a modern two-room modular kinder, providing an additional 30 spots for local children, while at Covenant College in Geelong, a playground will be added, along with a three room kindergarten, boosting places by 69, up from the current 30.
Finally, in Yea, a one room kindergarten, playground and car park facilities are set to open at Yea Primary School, to provide an extra 33 kindergarten spots for the local community.
The new buildings have been underpinned by a $13.8 million Government investment, part of a broader allocation made in the Victorian Budget’s 2019/20 funding of $283 million in funding for Three-Year-Old Kindergarten capital funding.
