Victorian Department has eyes on NZ as fight for ECEC talent continues

Victoria’s Department of Education has launched an advertising campaign in New Zealand to attract qualified early childhood teachers and educators and encourage them to make the move across the ditch.
The campaign aims to position Victoria as an attractive place to live and entice New Zealanders to ‘come for the career, stay for the lifestyle’ by building awareness of the number of jobs being created across Victoria due to the Best Start, Best Life reforms (including Free Kinder and the transition to Pre-Prep) and promoting financial incentives to support relocation.
There are powerful incentives on offer for New Zealanders who choose to make the move, including individual incentives of up to $9,000, plus relocation assistance (for early childhood teachers) and additional location incentives of between $9,000 and $50,000 for selected services delivering free Three-Year-Old kindergarten.
There are differing levels of support for those who are relocating as an individual, and those who are bringing families or dependents with them.
For those who are already in Australia, the Department’s generous support is also available for those onshore, who are wishing to move within Victoria, or from other Australian states or territories. Learn more about those incentives here.
Specialist recruitment agencies have been organised to assist educators and teachers throughout the process, as well as supporting Victorian services with job vacancies to find just the right person to fill them.
Vacant roles are advertised on the Early Childhood Jobs website
