ECE Connect On the Road heads to Armidale for regional session

Representatives from the New South Wales Department of Education have headed to Armidale for the next ECE Connect On the Road session, which will allow Department leaders to meet with early childhood professionals face to face and hear about their experiences.

Educators from across the Northern Tablelands will attend the session, a format which has been successful in other regional and rural communities, and one which is a welcome addition to the consultation work done by the Department, Deputy Secretary of Early Childhood Outcomes Mark Barraket said.

“ECE Connect On the Road gives us the chance to listen to the sector and answer any questions in person about reforms, as well as provide updates on policy initiatives, programs, and funding,” he explained.

“The events demonstrate the department’s commitment to listening and learning from teachers and educators and hearing about the issues that are most important to them.”

On the agenda for today’s discussion is information for attendees about the NSW Government’s plans to build 100 new public preschools by 2027.

49 of these preschools have been promised to regional and rural New South Wales, with the remaining 51 in western, south-western, and north-western Sydney.

The NSW ECEC Regulatory Authority will also present on a range of issues including child safety and transport awareness.

In turn, Department leaders will hear directly from educators, providers and early childhood sector experts in a series of roundtable discussions throughout the day.

Topics up for discussion include assessment and rating, local support, transition to school, and quality practice and regulatory support.

ECE Connect on The Road will then head to the Hunter Valley on August 7, and is complemented by ‘ECE Connect Online’ sessions throughout the year, where webinar discussion sessions are broadcast to attendees online.
