ASQA cancels qualifications issued by Spes Education following regulatory action

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has cancelled a number of qualifications and statements of attainment issued by Spes Education Pty Ltd, following regulatory action to address non-compliance with national standards.
Spes Education Pty Ltd had its registration as a training organisation officially cancelled by ASQA on 17 May 2025. This regulatory action came after the authority identified serious issues with the provider’s operations and delivery practices.
ASQA’s decision to cancel the registration was based on findings from a compliance investigation that Spes Education Pty Ltd did not meet key conditions of registration, including the Fit and Proper Person and Financial Viability Requirements.
The provider was also found to have issued qualifications without conducting adequate assessments, and in some cases, failed to ensure individuals had satisfied all training requirements before issuing VET certification.
The affected qualifications were issued between 8 January 2024 and 17 May 2025, and include:
- CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
- CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
ASQA is now in the process of cancelling these qualifications and has notified all impacted individuals. Those affected have been given an opportunity to respond or provide evidence before the cancellation is finalised.
The regulator emphasised the importance of maintaining public confidence in the quality of nationally recognised training and the integrity of the qualification system. In this case, the qualifications did not meet the required standards set out under the Standards for RTOs 2015.
Implications for ECEC providers
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers are encouraged to:
- Review qualifications of any educators who may have trained with Spes Education during the affected period
- Support staff in seeking Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or re-enrolment through a compliant registered training organisation if necessary
- Refer to ASQA’s guidance materials for services and affected individuals
ASQA is working with relevant state and territory regulatory bodies to support affected students and employers.
More information, including FAQs and guidance for affected students, is available at the ASQA website.
