Fraser Foundation backs ECEC educators with scholarships, free PD and sector luncheon

The Fraser Foundation has opened applications for its 2025 educator scholarships and launched a free professional development series, supporting workforce growth and access to opportunity across the early childhood sector. A fundraising luncheon in September will help expand the reach of these initiatives.

The Fraser Foundation is stepping up its support for Australia’s early childhood workforce with a suite of initiatives aimed at breaking down barriers to professional learning and promoting sector-wide access to opportunity.

Applications have now opened for the Foundation’s 2025 scholarship program, which helps aspiring early childhood educators pursue further study without the burden of financial hardship. The program forms part of the organisation’s broader commitment to supporting the next generation of ECEC professionals.

Alongside the scholarship drive, the Foundation has announced a new free professional development (PD) series, accessible to all early childhood educators across Australia. The first session will be held online on 2 July and delivered by Dr Kaylene Henderson, a child psychiatrist and nationally respected authority on early years mental health and development.

These initiatives come as the Foundation prepares for its annual fundraising event, the Fraser Foundation Charity Luncheon, scheduled for Friday 12 September at The Star Casino’s Garden Kitchen & Bar in Broadbeach.

Investing in educators

Founded to support those who support children, the Fraser Foundation’s work is grounded in the belief that removing systemic obstacles, especially cost, can unlock long-term outcomes for both educators and children.

Its scholarship program, now in its third year, provides targeted support for early childhood educators seeking to upskill or enter the profession through tertiary study. The 2025 round is open for applications until 30 June, with successful recipients set to be announced later this year.

“Our aim is to ensure that financial hardship doesn’t stop passionate educators from pursuing their goals,” a spokesperson said. “We believe that when educators thrive, so do the children and communities they support.”

Free PD with expert-led sessions

Launching in July, the Foundation’s new free PD series is open to all educators, regardless of qualification or location. The first session, focused on supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, will be led by Dr Kaylene Henderson and is expected to draw significant interest.

“Accessible professional learning is essential in today’s ECEC landscape, particularly when time and funding pressures often prevent educators from participating in formal development,” the Foundation said. “This is our way of giving back to the sector.”

Sector generosity on show at annual luncheon

The Fraser Foundation’s annual Charity Luncheon will bring together educators, providers and sector advocates for a fundraising event with heart. Ticket proceeds will contribute to the Foundation’s fundraising goal to support the 2025 scholarship program.

“More than just a lunch, it’s a chance to connect, celebrate and invest in the future of our profession,” organisers said.
