Leading Change Together offers rich opportunities for Victoria’s ECEC leaders

April 15, 2025

The Best Start, Best Life Evening Leadership Series supports Victoria’s early childhood service and organisational leaders in their continued implementation of the Best Start, Best Life reforms.

The popular series will host its next event –  Leading Change Togetheron Thursday, 1 May 2025.  It will be held at the Melbourne Museum in Carlton, as well as live streamed for attendees across the state.

The event is open to any leader or aspiring leader in the ECEC sector across Victoria, including approved providers, service managers and administrators, peak bodies, Early Years Managers and committees of management.

The program will feature:

  • a live keynote address from Professor Joce Nuttall, and
  • a panel of service leaders who will share practical insights and strategies on what works in delivering change.

Professor Nuttall, Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, has over forty years experience as a leader, educator, and researcher in primary and early childhood education settings.  This includes thirteen years at the Australian Catholic University (ACU) where she was Research Director, Teacher Education in the Institute for Learning Sciences and Teacher Education, and where she also established and directed the Centre for Early Childhood Futures.

Professor Nuttal was a board member of the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority from 2016 to 2022, contributing to her significant knowledge of the construction and implementation of early childhood curriculum policy and the design of teacher education programmes.

In 2024 Professor Nuttal helped develop the Change Management Toolkit, which assists early childhood leaders to plan and implement change that is right for their service and community. You can see Professor Nuttall introduce the Toolkit in this short webinar.

As Four-Year-Old Kindergarten transitions to Pre-Prep and Three-Year-Old Kindergarten continues to roll out across Victoria, some degree of change will be required at every service, whatever its size or type.
