Building Blocks partnership boosts kinder places for Darebin

The City of Darebin will soon have additional Kindergarten places, with Victorian Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn announcing a second project under the Building Blocks partnership developed with the city late last week.
The new project will see an expansion and upgrade of facilities at Maryborough Avenue Kindergarten, creating an additional 68 places through the creation of a brand-new second kindergarten room and the expansion of the existing kinder room.
Outdoor learning areas for children to use will also be improved in both rooms thanks to the $1.7 million investment from the Victorian Government.
All told, the Building Blocks partnership with the City of Darebin will create up to 97 new three and four-year-old kindergarten places for local families.
The first project in the partnership, which began this year, is increasing capacity by up to 29 kindergarten places at Merri Community Childcare & Kindergarten in Thornbury. The total Building Blocks Partnerships program with the City of Darebin represents a $2.4 million commitment from the Victorian Government.
