Adopt-a-Grandparent Day builds connection for Canowindra Preschool

Canowindra Preschool, in partnership with Cabonne Home Support, will be trailing an “Adopt-a-Grandparent Day” session in a bid to increase social inclusion.
Both organisations recognise the important contribution older people can make to the lives of young people, as well the sense of social inclusion that interacting with children can give to older people.
Having witnessed how much children in their care value the inclusion of their grandparents and extended family at events in the preschool, the Canowindra team took steps to take this inclusion further, connecting up with Cabonne Home Support, who have noticed an improvement in the wellbeing of seniors who attend playgroup sessions with Cabonne Children Services in Molong and Canowindra.
The trial session will be held at the preschool on Thursday, 13 of June 2024 from 10am, with visitors having the opportunity to participate in an activity with the preschoolers and will be followed by a light morning tea.
The activity is open to Cabonne Home Support clients, as well as the broader community. Those who have grandchildren attending the preschool are warmly invited to participate also.
Readers in the Cabonne area who would like to learn more, or to register, should contact Cabonne Home Support on (02) 6344 1199 to register.
