Wollondilly Shire officially opens new Children’s Services building in Picton

The Wollondilly Shire Council has officially opened its new Children’s Services Building in Picton, part of the Shire’s Cultural Precinct, which will offer preschool, family day care, school holiday care and before and after school care services. 

The $5 million project was co-funded by Wollondilly Shire Council under the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, which is part of the Western Sydney City Deal (WSCD). 

The WSCD is part of a partnership between the Federal and New South Wales Governments, as well as the eight Councils of the Western Parkland City.

Federal Minister for Hume and Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan, Deputy Mayor Matthew Deeth, Councillor Briggs, and some local children from the Wollondilly Preschool service officially opened the service on 14 August in conjunction with the Mayor Matt Gould. 

“It was an honour to be able to officially open Wollondilly’s fantastic new Children’s Services Building,” the Mayor said. 

“The building is already being enjoyed by many of our local families, and this was a great opportunity for our funding partners to see the finished product and the kids in action.”

He shared his appreciation for the funding from both the Western Sydney City Deal and Start Strong Funding from the NSW Department of Education which helped to make the project possible.
