100-place centre proposed for Grovedale with $20m plans lodged with Council

The City of Greater Geelong has received plans outlining the conversion of a block of land at Grovedale to become an early childhood education and care (ECEC) service at 71 Reserve Road.
Currently the land is an empty site, however the plans outline a $20 million 100-place service with 18 parking spaces. Previous plans for the site outlined 106 places and parking for 20 cars, with developers hoping the revised proposal will appropriately address the opportunities and constraints of the site.
“The changes made to the proposal will ensure that the proposed childcare centre will make a positive contribution to the local area and result in negligible off-site amenity impacts,” local media Geelong Times reported.
“The proposed childcare centre will legitimately serve a local community need and this centre, as numerous others have done, can comfortably co-exist with dwellings in a residential area.”
Public submissions in relation to the plans closed yesterday. To access the original coverage of this story from Geelong Times, please see here.
