Fraser Coast ECEC services will have the chance to Get Grubby with free program

Fraser Coast Regional Council has teamed up with dirtgirlworld and Get Grubby TV to offer the Get Grubby Program to all early learning centres, family day cares and primary schools on the Fraser Coast, free of charge.
The program is a set of teaching material for educators to guide children to get outside, “get grubby”, connect with nature and make better environmental choices, and costs $1,500 per subscription, a cost which the council is covering.
Mayor George Seymour said that the program was built around concepts that families value, and that early childhood educators and schools are always looking for practical and fun ideas and activities that encourage getting to know nature, inspire great recycling, support growing food and celebrate ‘reducing’.
This educational material is championed by ABC kid stars dirtgirl, scrapboy and Costa the Garden Gnome, and includes learning material such as videos, songs, printables, games and hands-on activities.
The ten units in the program align with events such as World Environment Day and National Recycling Week. Information on the Get Grubby Program is available here.
“Designed for young children this program helps our learning communities grow together, caring for nature from now and into the future,” the Mayor said.
Eligible services who wish to get involved should contact [email protected] for more information about how to sign up, mentioning Fraser Coast Regional Council.
