TAFE Queensland has welcomed a new chief executive officer and two new board members as part of a leadership refresh aimed at strengthening training delivery and building a more skilled workforce across the state.

The appointments support the Crisafulli Government’s plan to boost productivity and economic growth through vocational education and training reform.

Tim Rawlings has been named chief executive officer, bringing broad experience across training, industry and government. He is joined by new board members Kieran Chilcott and Susan Gladman, both of whom bring specialist expertise in governance, education and financial management.

The leadership changes are part of a broader renewal of the TAFE Queensland board, designed to ensure the organisation has the strategic insight and capability to meet future workforce demand and address skills shortages in priority industries.

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said the appointments were key to delivering on the government’s workforce plan.

“The Crisafulli Government is delivering a Fresh Start for skills and training, with stronger leadership and a clear focus on jobs and outcomes,” Minister Bates said.

“Tim Rawlings brings deep experience across training, industry and government, and his leadership will help strengthen TAFE Queensland as a high-performing public training provider.

“Kieran Chilcott and Susan Gladman bring valuable expertise in education, governance and finance, and will add strong capability to the Board as it guides the future of vocational education in Queensland.”

TAFE Queensland is a key training provider for the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector, supporting the development of new educators through nationally recognised Certificate III and Diploma qualifications. As demand for skilled ECEC professionals continues to grow, strong leadership at TAFE will help ensure the sector has access to high-quality training that meets the needs of children, families and services across Queensland.

TAFE Queensland is the state’s largest public training provider, delivering education and training across multiple industries and regions. The new leadership team will oversee the organisation’s efforts to align training programs with emerging workforce needs and to support the delivery of skills that drive job creation and economic resilience.
