All children need heroes – and QUT needs input from heroes to support them

Researchers from Queensland’s University of Technology (QUT) are appealing to the early childhood education and care (ECEC) community for support as part of the ‘All Children Need Heroes!’ survey.
The survey is led by Principal Researcher, PhD candidate Natasha Ayling (BEd, MPhil), who is being supervised by Professor Kerryann Walsh, Associate Professor Kate Williams, and Professor Ben Mathews.
Ms Ayling is seeking 400 people who are working in ECEC to complete a survey to help researchers understand the barriers and facilitators to mandatory reporting of child abuse and neglect for educators in ECEC services across Australia.
By completing an online 30-minute survey, readers of The Sector can support Ms Ayling to learn more about educators’ general level of confidence in carrying out tasks associated with mandatory reporting, their perceptions about the levels of collective confidence at their service generally, and their own views on reporting.
Educators will also be asked some questions so that researchers can tell if their survey sample is representative of the general ECEC workforce. Questions will include aspects such as age, gender, and qualifications. The answers will not reveal a respondents identity, and are completely anonymous.
The online survey can be completed anytime up until and including the 30 November 2022. For further information or support, please contact one of the research team, using the following contact information:
