Baptistcare Mirrambeena supported by children’s centre to create smiles for all
A partnership between Baptistcare Mirrambeena Residential Care and the Children’s Centre of Margaret River has proved to be a big hit with all those involved in the program, with residents from the aged care facility visiting the centre for “colourful, noisy, and fun sessions.”
Children’s centre coordinator Nicole Battese said it has been lovely to see the recognition develop between the elderly visitors and children when speaking with the ABC.
“When they arrive, the kids get so excited,” she said. “Some children might not see their grandparents very often or vice versa, so it’s great for everybody to have a nice morning together.”
Baptistcare Mirrambeena lifestyle coordinator Anni Kamppi said the outings have improved the mood of residents, and that the outings are one of the most rewarding parts of her job.
“Everybody is happy and it’s nice to leave the premises and come somewhere different with a change of scenery and people,” she said.
“They always come back feeling good about themselves, and so do we.”
