Maple Bear to bring bilingual early childhood centres to Australia

Canadian company Maple Bear Global Schools will bring its bilingual early childhood education and care (ECEC) offering to Australia, offering investors the opportunity to engage with one of three investment tiers.

The move into the Australian market is the first tier of the brand’s expansion into Australia, with plans for Maple Bear primary and secondary schools at a later date.

Maple Bear currently has a global presence in more than 30 countries around the world, with over 500 services in the network thus far.

Each service and school offers an immersion program, while still supporting local language requirements.

In Australia, where English is the primary language spoken, Maple Bear centres will have the option to choose the second language they would like children to be educated in based on the community and cultures in that area or centre. This gives potential owners a unique opportunity to open a centre in an area with a large population of immigrants that, while wanting their children to be fluent in English, may also wish for them to maintain a connection to their culture.

Speaking with publication Business Franchise Australia and New Zealand, Director of Maple Bear Australia Carols Ferri said “as a Brazillian immigrant who arrived in Australia 12 years ago not speaking a word of English, I know first-hand the benefits of being fluent in another language.

“With a high demand for quality education, particularly in early childhood, coupled with the sector being poised for massive growth, there has never been a better time to invest in education. I am delighted that business owners and educators throughout Australia will now have the opportunity to be part of the Maple Bear global family,” he added.

The three main investment options available in Australia for becoming part of the Maple Bear network are:

  • Greenfield – building a school from scratch.
  • Conversion – conversion of an existing school in operation to the Maple Bear brand while keeping the current owner.
  • Purchasing – purchase of a school in operation and conversion to Maple Bear brand with new owner.
