Community comes to the rescue after Port Macquarie Community Preschool loses hens

The children and educators of Port Macquarie Community Preschool were left upset recently after someone entered the premises and took beloved pet chickens, Henny and Penny.
After a search for the chickens proved fruitless Director Megan Jones turned to community social media pages for assistance, which resulted in many generous offers from residents in the Port Macquarie area to replace Henny and Penny.
The team at Oxley Rural Supplies were ultimately successful in delivering two new chickens to the preschool, who have been named Emma and Pip.
“This has been a valuable learning experience for the children,” Ms Jones said.
“They have been so upset about the chickens’ disappearance and learnt life lessons about property ownership and now also about the generosity of the Port Macquarie community.”
