Perth OSHC service establishes playgroup for children under five to boost connection

Outside school hours care (OSHC) educators from Keiki Early Learning Yanchep Rise have established a free playgroup for children under five years of age at Yanchep Rise Primary School, with the intention of helping families connect with other parents, caregivers and children in the community.
The playgroup provides age-appropriate resources and experiences for children up to five years of age at the school, which opened this year, and gives families the opportunity to discuss early childhood development and how to support their children to learn through play with an experienced team of educators.
Numbers at the playgroup are strong, with 18 families attending the first session in mid-March, a response which Keiki owner Sam Morrell said was “overwhelming”.
“We are so proud to be part of this amazing new school, and decided it was important to bring local families together within the school environment,” Mrs Morrell told local publication Perth Now.
She said Keiki placed a high priority on fostering connections with the community, and that playgroup offers “a fantastic way to help families connect with each other, build a support system and form friendships along the way”.
