Only About Children partner with local community to create Harmony Day mural

Early childhood education provider, Only About Children, partnered recently with Randwick City Council, Muralisto art enterprise and local schools to unveil a mural in honour of Harmony Day.
Working with Emanuel School, Matraville Sports High School, Randwick Girls High School and Champagnat College, the mural project, which appears on the exterior wall of Only About Children Maroubra, celebrates diversity and inclusion, and was unveiled ahead of national Harmony Day, held Sunday 21 March.
Muralisto ran workshops in each of the schools exploring the topics of multiculturalism and diversity, before incorporating these ideas and discussions into the mural’s design.
A spokesperson from Only About Children noted that as well as giving children in the community an educational opportunity to learn about the importance of tolerance and multiculturalism, the design process brought together children from different cultural and religious backgrounds in the community to work collaboratively on the project, encouraging harmony.
“Ultimately the goal is this will work to discourage incidents of intolerance among children into the future,” the spokesperson added.
