Children from the Whyalla Child Care Centre wore red and yellow last week to support those affected by the South Australian bushfires, and to raise money for the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal and the SA CFS Foundation.
Red and yellow CFS colours were worn by the children whose families made a donation during the week to support the work of SA firefighters during recent bushfire outbreaks in the Adelaide Hills and on Kangaroo Island. The centre's early childhood teacher Joanne Marsland said the children have also been making ‘Thank You Hearts’ which will be sent to the emergency service workers in South Australia.
“Like everyone, we have been overwhelmed and saddened by the heartbreaking bushfires all over our beautiful country,” Ms Marsland said.

Local Whyalla Council staff have joined the effort wearing red or yellow on Wednesday 15 January with fundraising being conducted throughout Council offices.
There are a number of charity appeals supporting the bushfire effort, about which more information may be found here.
