Mildura Council to celebrate 40 years of family day care
Children and families residing in the Mildura region of Victoria have been invited to join with the community and help celebrate 40 years of Council’s family day care Service provision at a special event later this month.
On Wednesday 30 October a free community event will be held, showcasing both the past achievements and future directions of the Council’s family day care program.
Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole said the Council’s family day care service is currently provided by 31 registered educators, who help foster the development of more than 360 children in the Mildura and Wentworth Shire Council areas.
“Over the past 40 years our dedicated family day care teams have played, and continue to play, pivotal roles in helping to shape the formative years of our region’s children,” Cr Poole said.
“This year’s 40th anniversary of the service’s inception is a great opportunity to reflect back on the impact our educators have had, and the options and services they currently provide.”
The Council’s family day care team provides a home-based early childhood education and care service for children aged six weeks to 13 years.
Children will be able to enjoy “a host of free activities” such as Sunraysia Arts and Learning Music Time, Mildura Library story time, building blocks, and colouring in.
Parents and guardians will be able to speak to the Council’s family day care team to learn more about what the service provides and ask any questions.
The event, which will be held in the Alfred Deakin Centre’s Benetook Room, will culminate in a birthday cake cutting at 2pm, and also gives the opportunity for residents to join the family day care team for a BYO picnic lunch.
