Fizzle, crash, boom, bang! This free, hands-on workshop invites early childhood educators to explore the world of acoustics, the science of sound, through rich STEM learning experiences designed for curious young minds.
Presented by Little Scientists in partnership with the NT Department of Education, this session also explores peer group learning and the educator’s role in supporting co-constructed environments.
What to expect
Explore how sound is created, experienced and interpreted in early childhood
Learn to create your own noise makers and visualise sound vibrations
Discover how to use acoustics to meet EYLF outcomes through inquiry-based learning
Build skills in supporting peer group dynamics, communication and collaboration
Key activities
Investigate loud versus soft, high versus low, simple versus complex sounds
Explore the human body as a sound source
Visualise sound vibrations using solid materials
Invent noise makers and sound stories
Facilitate STEM discovery through co-construction and group learning
Who should attend
This session is suitable for all early childhood educators and teachers. No prior STEM knowledge is required.
