Little Scientists STEM Hour: Supporting Language Development through Early STEM
STEM experiences provide the ideal context for developing all areas of children’s language: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. STEM learning has a particularly strong impact on oral language development as children feel internally motivated to acquire the skills to ask questions, describe challenges, and share their successes.
In this STEM Hour, explore the powerful interplay between language development and early STEM learning with Kacey King, a highly experienced Speech Pathologist from Authentic Speech who has extensive experience working within the early childhood setting.
In this 60-minute STEM Hour, you will:
- Refresh your understanding of children’s language learning pathway from infancy to their early years of school.
- Gain an understanding of how inquiry-based STEM experiences can foster and extend children’s language skills.
- Explore real-world examples of STEM activities that enhance early language development.
- Gain practical strategies to assess and support language growth during STEM learning.
Purchasing a ticket allows you to tune in live or via a recording. While we strongly encourage you to attend live, a recording will be shared via email following the event and can be viewed for 3 days after the email is sent. This STEM Hour will be held on:
