Winston Glades Centre Director selected as 2026 Children’s Rights Queensland Ambassador

Queensland Childcare Services’ (QCCS) Winston Glades Early Education Centre Director Lisa Harris has been selected as a 2026 Children’s Rights Queensland Ambassador, recognising her long-standing commitment to child safety, wellbeing, education and inclusion.
With 26 years’ experience in early childhood education, Ms Harris is passionate about creating environments where children feel safe, heard, respected and supported to thrive.
“I’m honoured to have been selected as a Children’s Rights Queensland Ambassador for 2026,” Ms Harris said.
“I believe every child, no matter where they are born or what circumstances they face, deserves to grow up safe, valued, and heard. Children have the right to education, protection, healthcare, and the freedom to express themselves without fear.
“As an ambassador for children’s rights, I am committed to raising awareness, advocating for fairness, and supporting actions that create real change. This means listening to young voices, standing up against injustice, and working with communities to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
“Protecting children’s rights is not just a responsibility, it is an investment in a better, more just future for everyone. Together, we can create a world where every child is respected, protected, and empowered.”
Each year, Children Rights Queensland appoints ambassadors across the state to champion children’s rights, safety and wellbeing through their work and community leadership.
Winston Glades Early Education Centre has also been recognised as Joint National Winner and State Winner in the 2024 Kindicare Excellence Awards.
Under Ms Harris’ leadership, the centre has maintained a strong focus on child led learning, inclusion and high-quality early education.
“I’m proud to be part of a team that puts children at the centre of everything we do,” Ms Harris said.
“At Winston Glades, we take the time to really get to know and understand each child and support them in ways that help them grow now and into the future.”
The appointment reflects Ms Harris’ commitment to children’s rights and both Winston Glade and QCCS’ broader focus on creating safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments for every child
Queensland Childcare Services (QCCS) is a privately owned and operated company which provides early childhood education to children in southeast Queensland. Established in 1991, QCCS is one of Australia’s leading providers of high quality, individualised care and education of young children.
QCCS is committed to the implementation of the National Early Years Learning Framework and operates an Emergent Curriculum. An Emergent Curriculum is largely based around the interests of a child or group of children. As a child shows interest in a topic or activity, our educators facilitate this interest by providing resources and materials to help guide their learning, exploration and discovery.
Our first and foremost important goal is to inspire delight, curiosity and inquiry in the classroom. These are the greatest gifts our teachers can give a child.
