Red Nose opens Sydney hub to strengthen bereavement support for families

Red Nose Australia has opened a new Sydney Hub in Gladesville, creating a dedicated space for families grieving the loss of a baby or child to access face-to-face counselling, peer support and community-based bereavement programs.

The hub officially opened on 20 May 2026 and will support families through services including Healing Through Community and Hospital to Home.

Red Nose said the new site responds to what families have consistently asked for: a safe, warm place to sit with someone who understands their grief.

Red Nose Australia Board Chair Nick Xerakias said the hub would provide “a physical home for support, connection, and community”, while Chief Executive Officer Amy Cooper said in-person support remained an important part of bereavement care, alongside digital services.

The opening was attended by government representatives, philanthropic partners, volunteers, community members and families supported by Red Nose programs.

Federal Member for Bennelong Jerome Laxale MP also reaffirmed the Australian Government’s support for Red Nose programs including Healing Through Community, Digital Mental Health and Hospital to Home.

For early childhood education and care services, the opening highlights the importance of accessible, specialist support for families experiencing grief, loss and trauma.

Educators and service leaders are often part of a family’s wider support network during difficult periods. Access to dedicated bereavement services can help ensure families receive compassionate, specialised care beyond the early learning setting.

The Sydney Hub will provide a physical place for counselling, connection and community as Red Nose continues its work supporting bereaved families across Australia.
