Queensland Educational Leadership Program supports ECEC professionals to strengthen leadership capability

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals across Queensland are being supported to strengthen their leadership capability through the Queensland Educational Leadership Program (QELP), a targeted professional development program designed specifically for the early childhood sector.
Designed and delivered by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) for Queensland’s early childhood education and care sector, QELP is being offered to eligible educational leaders by the Queensland Government to support leadership growth and strengthen quality practice.
The program aims to enhance the capability and confidence of early childhood professionals by supporting them to further develop their leadership skills, professional knowledge and ability to positively influence outcomes for children, families and communities.
As the early childhood sector continues to navigate increasing complexity, workforce challenges and evolving expectations, investment in leadership development remains an important part of building a sustainable, confident and capable workforce.
Strong educational leadership plays a critical role in delivering high-quality early learning experiences.
QELP has been designed to support early childhood professionals to reflect on their leadership practice, strengthen their professional capability and apply learning within their service context.
The program provides an opportunity for participants to build confidence as leaders, explore contemporary approaches to educational leadership and further develop skills that support quality improvement and positive outcomes for children.
By focusing specifically on the Queensland early childhood context, the program recognises the important role educators and leaders play in shaping children’s learning experiences and supporting thriving early learning communities.
Building and retaining a skilled early childhood workforce remains one of the sector’s most significant priorities.
Through the Queensland Educational Leadership Program, the Queensland Government continues to support professional growth opportunities that recognise the value of early childhood educators, teachers and leaders.
Leadership development supports not only individual career growth but also contributes to stronger teams, improved practice and enhanced learning environments for children.
Supporting educators to continue developing throughout their careers is an important part of strengthening workforce sustainability and ensuring children and families continue to benefit from high-quality early childhood education and care.
The Queensland Educational Leadership Program reflects a continued investment in the future of Queensland’s early childhood sector by supporting professionals who lead learning, inspire teams and contribute to continuous improvement.
As services respond to changing community needs and ongoing workforce pressures, building leadership capability remains essential to supporting quality outcomes across the sector.
