Bronwen FitzGerald, Deputy Secretary, Early Childhood Education Victoria, to open Workforce and Wellbeing Forum 2026

With the second edition of The Sector Connect+ ECEC Workforce and Wellbeing Forum fast approaching, the program continues to take shape. The event will be held in Melbourne on Friday, 5 June 2026, and organisers have now confirmed Bronwen FitzGerald, Deputy Secretary, Early Childhood Education in the Victorian Department of Education, as a key participant.
“It is with great excitement that we can confirm that Bronwen FitzGerald, Deputy Secretary, Early Childhood Education, will join me for a timely conversation about the early learning sector in Victoria,” said Jason Roberts, Founder of The Sector.
“Ms FitzGerald is deeply connected to the extensive reform program currently underway across the state. As a key decision-maker and influencer across a broad range of strategic and policy initiatives, she is ideally placed to discuss the issues most impacting the sector right now, from workforce challenges to wellbeing and beyond.”
Deputy Secretary to bring deep insights to the forum
As Deputy Secretary, Early Childhood Education at the Victorian Department of Education, Ms FitzGerald leads major reforms, policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the early childhood sector. Her work includes a strong focus on improving outcomes for disadvantaged children.
Bronwen FitzGerald leads design and implementation of policy, programs, and funding for Victoria’s early childhood education sector, including government-owned and operated services and a suite of access, quality, equity and participation programs and reforms.
Prior to this role, Bronwen held executive roles in early childhood policy and implementation and social policy, in the Department of Education and the Department of Premier and Cabinet. She has more than 20 years of experience in governance, policy and programs in the Victorian public sector.
“Ms FitzGerald’s extensive experience across the sector will make for a compelling discussion on the key issues shaping ECEC. Her insights will set a strong foundation for what promises to be a valuable and engaging day for all attendees,” Mr Roberts said.
An opportunity to engage with sector leaders
The ECEC Workforce and Wellbeing Forum, part of The Sector’s Connect+ series, is designed to bring together ECEC organisations, leaders, and practitioners. The event offers opportunities to engage with subject matter experts and high-profile sector leaders through curated, moderator-led panel discussions and extended audience Q&A sessions.
A key session, “Building the Future: The challenges of sustainable workforce planning,” will explore critical questions around workforce culture, wellbeing, retention, and long-term sustainability.
“Our mission at The Sector has always been to equip the ECEC community with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive,” Mr Roberts said.
“This forum will support that mission, ensuring participants feel informed, supported, and empowered in their roles. We look forward to welcoming delegates on 5 June and delivering an event that will become a cornerstone of the annual ECEC calendar.”
The final program is now confirmed, and final release tickets are available for a limited time.
