Families in Melbourne’s west will benefit from a new three-room kindergarten co-located with the future Aintree North Primary School, creating 178 additional kindergarten places from 2027.

A new kindergarten planned for Aintree, Victoria, will streamline the transition from early learning to school and ease the morning routine for families. The three-room service will be co-located on the site of the upcoming Aintree North Primary School and is set to open in 2027.

The Aintree North kindergarten is part of a wider infrastructure push that will see 14 new kindergartens open on school sites across Victoria in 2027, delivering more than 2,400 additional kindergarten places statewide.

The kindergarten will be supported by major investment in school infrastructure, including $336.4 million for Aintree North Primary School and a broader $1.5 billion commitment to create 13,300 more student places across the state.

Victorian Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn emphasised the importance of co-locating early learning and school settings:

“Having a kinder on the school site helps children feel part of the school community from the very beginning, supporting their wellbeing and easing the transition to school,” she said.

“By bringing quality kindergarten programs to communities where they are needed most, we’re making sure every Victorian child gets the best start in life.”

“Free Kinder is saving families up to $2,600 a year per child, delivering early education that’s affordable for everyone.”

Member for Kororoit Luba Grigorovitch noted the practical benefits for local families:

“This new three-room kinder will be co-located right at a new primary school, helping with cost-of-living pressures and making mornings so much easier for families when they open in 2027.”

The Aintree North kindergarten forms part of a broader expansion of early learning infrastructure aimed at increasing service accessibility and supporting transitions between early childhood education and school. It will contribute to the integrated planning of new community developments in Melbourne’s west.
