The Little People, Big Dreams Conference, returns this October with a renewed focus on connection, wellbeing and inclusive leadership in early childhood education and care.

Now in its 11th year, the Little People, Big Dreams (LPBD) Conference will be held on Saturday 11 October 2025 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Esplanade in Darwin, Northern Territory. 

 

With the theme Nurture & Flourish, this year’s event invites educators, leaders and advocates from across the early learning and school-age care sectors to engage in a day of professional learning, sector connection and personal growth.

 

The conference is known for its emphasis on practical knowledge, accessible content and sector relevance. With a full program of keynote presentations, breakout sessions and networking opportunities, LPBD continues to offer an inclusive space for early childhood professionals at all career stages to build capability and confidence.

A day of learning, sharing and inspiration

 

As early learning services continue to navigate change across workforce, regulatory and pedagogical domains, this year’s theme recognises the importance of nurturing educators so that children and communities can flourish.

 

The 2025 program has been designed to address some of the sector’s most pressing topics including trauma-informed practice, inclusive education, wellbeing, leadership development and the regulatory landscape.

Keynote speakers bringing knowledge and inspiration

 

LPBD 2025 features an outstanding line-up of keynote presenters, each bringing fresh insight into how educators can nurture children and themselves in complex environments:

• Professor Selena Bartlett, internationally recognised Neuroscientist, will explore the science of connection and how being ‘seen’ shapes children’s brain development and emotional wellbeing.

• Sarah Forgan of Berry Street will present on trauma-aware practices and how to create safe, resilient learning environments for both children and educators.
\t
• Charlotte Thaarup-Owen, one of Australia’s pioneers in mindful leadership, will offer evidence-based tools to reduce stress, maintain compassion and lead with integrity in high-pressure ECEC settings.

 

These keynotes are supported by interactive sessions and workshops that create space for reflection, practical application and peer engagement.

 

Attendees can tailor their conference experience by selecting sessions most relevant to their context, interests or current challenges. All sessions are grounded in current research and delivered by experienced professionals working within the sector.
