Outstanding individuals and institutions from across Queensland’s early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector are being encouraged to nominate themselves, or someone/an organisation equally worthy for the Queensland Greats Awards.

The Awards honour individuals and institutions who have made significant contributions to Queensland across three categories: individual, institution and posthumous.

Winners of the Queensland Greats will be announced to coincide with Queensland Day 2025 (6 June 2025).

Each year, the awards recognise outstanding individuals who have made a significant contribution to Queensland, and who are exemplary role models, and public and private institutions that have played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s growth and development.

Since inception in 2001, the Queensland Greats Awards has honoured 122 individuals, 1 honorary, 20 institutions, and 11 posthumous recipients across the fields of business, science, health, education, Indigenous affairs, sport, arts, conservation, community, and philanthropy.

“It is an honour to recognise the outstanding achievements and contributions of our Queensland Greats,” QLD Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie said.

“This is the opportunity to recognise those who go above and beyond to make a difference, and to submit nominations for those whose contributions have made a lasting impact on Queensland.”

Bruce and Denise Morcombe are previous award winners, noting their contributions to child safety.

“Having our work to make communities safer for children recognised by the Queensland Greats Awards in 2020 was a rewarding and humbling experience,” Mr and Mrs Morcombe said.

“We are keeping company with some truly inspirational people who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of Queenslanders.”

“Many of us know an individual or institution who have greatly impacted our lives and we encourage you to nominate them, to show them that their hard work and dedication to the Queensland community are recognised, valued, and understood.”
