Kids at Home Family Day Care celebrates trifecta of wins in National Awards

Kids at Home Family Day Care has made history as the first service to win all three national awards in the prestigious Excellence in Family Day Care Awards. 

Commencing with an acknowledgement as National Service of the Year in 2017, the provider followed up with a National Educator of the Year Award in 2019, before adding National Coordinator of the Year to the tally in 2024. 

Adding to the significance of the 2024 achievement is the fact that Coordinator of the Year winner April Eaton is the first individual to be named both Educator of the Year (2019) and Coordinator of the Year (2024). 

Reflecting on her career and her success Ms Eaton was sentimental, sharing that she “started off as one of the parents whose child needed to be peeled off them… then I became an educator for 22 years, and now here I am today. I feel like I’ve had a lifelong relationship with Family Day Care.”

For Kids at Home Family Day Care founder Sharyn Flynn, the both the Awards and the accomplishments of her team emphasise the role that Family Day Care has played in the broader Australian early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector.

“The growth of Family Day Care is so important, and these awards help to raise its profile,” Ms Flynn said.

“Recognition and promotion of the value of Educators and what they do every day as Early Childhood Education Professionals is at the forefront of our business values, and we are thrilled to once again be amongst this year’s accolades.”

In addition to the triplicate of National wins, Kids at Home Family Day Care has enjoyed a number of other achievements over the years, including five Regional Educator of the Year Awards and multiple National Finalist positions, as well as being rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard.

Ms Flynn attributes this success to the professionalism and care demonstrated by her team every day.

“Recognition and awards like these are a celebration of the incredible Educators, Coordinators, and Families who help champion excellence within our Service and across the Family Day Care sector” she said.
