Gulpa Pre-school celebrates strong legacy of leadership
In 2024, Gulpa Pre-school is celebrating 40 years of providing preschool education in Deniliquin, New South Wales.
Ahead of a special celebration, to be held 16 November 2024 at the Deniliquin Golf Club local news source Yarrawong Chronicle has shared a little more about the history of the service, profiling the educators and assistants who have shaped the lives of children and families across the preschool’s 40 year history.
A non-for-profit organisation from its inception, Gulpa Pre-School has also been overseen by a parent management committee for the duration of its operations, supported by a fundraising committee dedicated to raising much needed funds to keep the preschool viable and running smoothly.
The pre-school has had only three directors across its 40 year span, starting with Maree Kok, who held the lead position until 1999. She was succeeded by Karyn Bull, who was the longest serving director in Gulpa Pre-School history, serving as Director for 12 years from 2000 until 2012.
Stepping in to fill the lead role on her departure was current Director Angela Bould, who at the end of this year, will have equalled Ms Bull’s record.
“The extended periods of time spent in the roles by these educators is a testament to the environment and community that is Gulpa, which they helped to create and foster,” the Chronicle notes.
Ms Bould is currently supported by educators Sarah Aitken, Kara Hood and Olivia Park, working as a team to create a safe and supported environment for the students of Gulpa Pre-School.
