Tim Watts named as ELAA’s interim CEO
Tim Watts has been appointed to the position of Interim CEO of Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA).
Mr Watts has a proven track record as a CEO in the education sector, and has also held executive roles in health and disability, with a significant focus on workforce development, and served as a non-executive director on the board of a member-based advocacy organisation.
He has worked in Australia and the United States, with his most recent role being with a privately held SaaS company offering evidence-based tools, data analytics and practical support to help improve teacher effectiveness in K-12 schools.
Professionally he is best known for his strategic thinking, driving innovation, and developing organisations.
ELAA believes Mr Watts “is well-placed to lead the ELAA team as we continue our collaborative work with members, partners and government to deliver on our collective vision of excellence and equity in early childhood education and care.”
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the ELAA team and members in this critical time for the early childhood education and care sector. As a parent of children who benefited enormously from their time at community kindergartens, I know first-hand the powerful impact that excellent early childhood education and care has,” Mr Watts shared.
He has been appointed for an initial six month term, and formally commenced in the role on 3 June 2024.
The ELAA Board announced that Andrew Hume, outgoing CEO of Early Childhood Management Services, and a noted leader in the sector, will play an advisory role supporting Mr Watts in the coming months.
“Andrew’s extensive knowledge of the early childhood education and care sector will be a valuable asset to ELAA through this period, and we welcome his continued contribution,” the Board noted.
