Camp Australia announces paid parental leave policy on IWD
Outside school hours care (OSHC) provider Camp Australia has marked International Women’s Day (IWD) by announcing a non-gender specific paid parental leave policy as part of its Employee Value Proposition, Grow with CA your way.
The OSHC sector has a predominantly female workforce, and at Camp Australia over 84 per cent of the team delivering services before and after school and during holidays are women.
As an organisation, Camp Australia strives to support a diverse demographic of permanent team members and hopes to lead the way by creating an inclusive policy that prioritises family-friendly work practices and flexible return-to-work arrangements.
Camp Australia has updated its parental leave policy to attract and retain team members during a crucial point in their parenthood journey; supporting them to feel supported and engaged with the business while on parental leave.
The policy aims to ensure parental leave does not disadvantage the career progression of any team member and ensures team members continue to participate in annual salary reviews while on leave.
In addition, the new strategy supports team members to attend antenatal classes using personal leave and includes compassionate provisions for birth-related complications, premature birth, stillbirth, and infant loss.
The provider believes this policy will further contribute to cultivating a workplace culture where people are the centre of its decision-making.
Newly appointed Chief People Officer Alissa Taylor said the benefits to permanent employees will be substantial, with greater flexibility for when the leave is taken and structured ‘keeping in touch’ days to maintain Camp Australia’s connection with its team members.
“Our mission is to support families, and we now have a parental leave policy that reflects this aim,” she added.
