National Family Day Care Week celebrations begin
National Family Day Care (FDC) Week is a significant event in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) calendar, highlighting the important role that dedicated family day care (FDC) educators, services and schemes play in the development and wellbeing of more than 93,000 Australian children.
In 2022, National Family Day Care Week celebrates ten years of acknowledgement of the role FDC plays in the Australian ECEC landscape, celebrating the educators who deliver educational programming to children based on their individual needs, interests and experiences from their own homes, and the schemes who support them to do so.
Currently, Family Day Care Australia’s national network of members in the sector forms one of Australia’s largest networks of women in small business.
National FDC Week is also a chance to acknowledge the unique benefits of small group settings, personalised educational programming and flexible hours of care that FDC provides to Australian children each and every day.
To celebrate National FDC Week events are being held across the country in every state and territory from 2 May to 8 May.
“2022 is a landmark year for National FDC Week as we celebrate 10 years of recognising the contributions FDC makes to Australian children, families and communities,” Family Day Care Australia (FDCA) CEO Andrew Paterson said.
“FDC offers much needed flexibility to support shift workers, regional communities and families in need of care outside of the usual 9 to 5. Our educators and services are an essential part of the education and care landscape, offering a unique approach to early learning that cannot be replicated in larger settings”.
