Helen Toohey appointed as General Manager of Early Learning for TLC
TLC Healthcare (TLC) has appointed Helen Toohey as its new General Manager of Early Learning, effective 26 April 2022.
Ms Toohey has over 20 years’ experience in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector, and prior to her appointment has been the lead educator of Haileybury for the last five years whilst also being an experienced lecturer, trainer and teacher.
She holds a Master of Education, a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma of Education. She is also a member of the Reggio Emilia Information Exchange and the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.
TLC CEO Lou Pascuzzi said he was excited to welcome Ms Toohey to the team, saying her extensive experience and passion for early learning “make her a vital addition to Team TLC”.
“Helen will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, and is the perfect leader to deliver TLC’s innovative intergenerational platform to market. I look forward to welcoming Helen to the team,” he added.
Ms Toohey’s appointment is well timed with TLC’s latest development in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Mordialloc due to be completed in November 2022.
The new development will incorporate a 120-place early learning centre alongside a 150-place residential aged care home, community medical centre, commercial health club, swimming pool and café, and represents the first time this range of intergenerational care services has been offered in one location by a single provider.
Incorporating early childhood, Mr Pascuzzi explained, expands on TLC’s integration and aged care deinstitutionalisation strategy that has seen them combine community medical centres, gymnasiums and swimming pools with their aged care homes, and is something he views as being a natural progression for the organisation.
“The opening of our first early learning centre is an exciting progression for TLC. Given the synergies between child care, aged care, and primary care, it is a logical evolution for our organisation to enter the early learning field.”
