Community listening: What happens when we start with children and families?

Ensuring that every child in every community has what they need to thrive has proved elusive in Australia. Despite our efforts, many children, families and communities remain overburdened and under-resourced. Traditional ways of working are failing to address inequity, disadvantage and vulnerability.

 

But what happens when your approach is driven by listening? What happens when you begin with the children, families and communities? What happens when you understand their stories, and use these stories to shape action and inform strategies for change?

 

Join us as we:

 

• consider the role of different types of evidence
• share a decision-making practice framework that supports working in partnership
• listen to the experience of families and communities in effecting change
• showcase the collaborative work of the Hands Up Mallee.

 

Participants will have an opportunity to engage in a Q&A with the panel, including a community member involved in the Hands Up Mallee initiative.
