NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian expands free child safe eLearning resources

The NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) is continuing to strengthen child safe capability across the community sector through a growing suite of free online training and eLearning resources focused on child protection, safeguarding and organisational responsibility.
Available through the OCG website, the training modules are designed for workers, volunteers, leaders and organisations that engage with children and young people, including those operating within the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector.
The self-paced eLearning courses cover a range of topics linked to child safe practices, reportable conduct obligations, professional boundaries and understanding abuse and neglect.
According to the OCG, the resources are intended to support organisations to build safer cultures for children while helping staff and volunteers better understand their responsibilities under NSW child protection frameworks.
The training offering includes introductory and advanced modules suitable for both frontline practitioners and organisational leaders, with several courses aligned to the Child Safe Standards introduced nationally following recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Among the available resources are modules exploring:
- child safe organisational culture
- identifying and responding to child abuse and neglect
- reportable conduct responsibilities
- professional boundaries and behaviours
- online safety and safeguarding
- participation and inclusion of children and young people.
The Office of the Children’s Guardian said accessible and consistent training plays a key role in embedding child safe principles into everyday practice.
The expansion of online safeguarding resources comes amid increased regulatory focus on child safety obligations across the ECEC sector nationally, including strengthened compliance expectations under the National Quality Framework and the rollout of mandatory child safety training requirements in several jurisdictions.
Child safety and organisational culture continue to be major areas of focus for approved providers, service leaders and educators following a series of national reforms aimed at improving safeguarding systems and strengthening accountability.
The OCG’s eLearning platform allows individuals and organisations to complete modules remotely and at their own pace, supporting ongoing professional learning and reflective practice across a range of child-facing settings.
Further information and access to the training modules is available through the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian website.
