MindChamps wins education innovation award for music-based learning approach

MindChamps has received an Asian Innovation Excellence Award for an education methodology that connects music literacy with learning across other disciplines.
MindChamps PreSchool Limited has won the Singapore Learning & Development Innovation of the Year – Education category at the Asian Innovation Excellence Awards 2026.
The provider, which operates early learning services in Australia and overseas, announced the recognition in a statement dated 23 October.
Founder, CEO and Executive Chairman David Chiem said the award recognised the work of the organisation’s researchers, curriculum developers and educators.
“This award is a recognition of the dedication of our researchers, curriculum developers and educators, whose work continues to translate research and innovation into measurable learning outcomes for children,” Mr Chiem said.
Connecting music with other areas of learning
MindChamps’ approach connects five areas of literacy: music, numerical, language, social and emotional.
The organisation describes music literacy as a way to help children recognise connections and apply learning across different subjects. It says the methodology has received patents in Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Provider cites preschool research
MindChamps said a two-year study involving 221 preschool children found that participants taught using the methodology outperformed peers in music literacy, language and mathematics.
According to the provider, the research involved its Applied Integration Research team and researchers from Adelaide University and Harvard University. Assessments included the Test of Preschool Early Literacy and Test of Early Mathematics Ability.
