Camp Australia set to take over 20 Jabiru OSHC services in Queensland

Jabiru Community Services has agreed to transfer its 20 Queensland outside school hours care (OSHC) services to Camp Australia, with the change planned for January 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
The services are expected to move to Camp Australia in three stages during January. The national OSHC provider operates more than 450 schools across Australia.
Jabiru Community Services announced the agreement on 13 October, with families, school principals and educators at the affected services notified directly.
Educators and programs expected to remain
Jabiru and Camp Australia said children and families should see little change to their everyday experience at the services.
The plan is for children to continue attending the same programs, in the same spaces, with the educators they already know. Existing operating hours are also expected to remain unchanged.
Jabiru educators will be offered employment with Camp Australia, with their continuity of service and leave entitlements recognised.
Camp Australia Chief Executive Officer Craig Napier said maintaining the relationships between educators, children and families was a priority.
“Children and families know these teams, and we want that to continue. Our job is to support the people already doing this work, keep each service running the way families know it, and work with every school and family through the change. We look forward to welcoming Jabiru’s educators to Camp Australia.”
Jabiru reflects on changing expectations for OSHC providers
Jabiru Community Services is a not-for-profit charitable organisation founded in Bracken Ridge more than 35 years ago.
Jabiru Chair Sara Harrup said the decision followed discussions about the growing expectations placed on OSHC providers.
“Jabiru has always been a small, local provider, and we are proud of the care we have provided,” Ms Harrup said.
“What families, schools and regulators expect from providers is evolving, and we support that. We have concluded that a large national provider that specialises in outside school hours care has the scale, expertise and systems to deliver the standard of care the future will require. We chose Camp Australia because of the commitment it made to our people, to children and families and to each school community.”
Jabiru's community programs, which support children, young people and families across South East Queensland, are not part of the transfer.
Services to transfer in three stages
Subject to regulatory approval, the first seven services are scheduled to transfer on 11 January 2027, followed by eight services on 18 January.
The remaining five services are expected to move across on 27 January.
The proposed arrangements are intended to allow families and educators to continue their existing routines as Camp Australia assumes responsibility for the services.
