The first 2,000 days of a child’s life are some of the most valuable opportunities to set a strong foundation for a lifetime of growth and development.

To support professionals in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector to capitalise on this moment of rich opportunity, Playgroup NSW will host a sector development event “The Power of Play in the First 2000 Days,” to be held 21 October at the University of Western Sydney’s Babylab.

During the event attendees will explore the crucial role of play in early childhood development in a session which will feature expert speakers including Connected Parenting’s Gen Muir and Babylab’s Susan Hepsos, as well as an engaging panel discussion, focused on the developmental benefits of play.

Participants will gain valuable insights into how play can enhance cognitive, social, and emotional development in young children.

“Play is not just a fun way for a child to pass the time,” Jennifer Kemp, Chief Social Impact Officer at Playgroup NSW said.

“It is an essential part of a child’s learning and development and creates lifelong benefits and bonds. This event will provide a platform for professionals to share knowledge, strategies, and resources that can positively impact the lives of children and families, as well as to network with peers.”

The event will conclude with an afternoon of networking, allowing attendees to connect with peers and exchange ideas on best practices in early childhood education.
