The Koori Curriculum wins Australian Small Business Champions Award

Early childhood consultancy business The Koori Curriculum was recently announced as the winner of the Educational Services category in the Australian Small Business Champions Awards.
The win is another significant success marker for founder Jessica Staines and her team, with The Koori Curriculum winning the Educational Services category in the Australian Women’s Small Business Champions Awards last year.
The Koori Curriculum is based on the Central Coast of New South Wales, a place where the work done by the organisation was recognised in 2023 when the team won the Diversity & Inclusion awards at the Central Coast Business Awards.
Ms Staines is a proud Wiradjuri woman, early childhood teacher and passionate educational community member, with ties to many advocacy groups on both national and international platforms.
The Koori Curriculum facilitates a range of professional development programs and workshops for educators that help guide the inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives in early childhood curriculums.
Working alongside her passionate team, Ms Staines provides education services, subscriptions, memberships and products to help early childhood educators and families embed First Nations perspectives in their teaching and the day-to-day lives of Australian children.
“While children need to be exposed to and educated on the First Nations history and culture of Australia, many educators are hesitant to deliver this teaching for fear of getting it wrong or causing offence. This is where we step in. We support early childhood educators to improve their cultural capacity and their confidence,” Ms Staines explained.
“To do this, we’re committed to creating new and diverse ways to reach educators across Australia and the world, adding to the ever expanding suite of products and services including podcasts, educational resources, exclusive publications, webinars, online summits, conferences, in-services and planning days, and a dedicated membership program for educators.”
The Sector extends its congratulations to the team at The Koori Curriculum on this significant achievement.
