The Front Project welcomes drive in ECEC post Early Years Summit

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) organisation The Front Project has welcomed the Federal Government’s commitment to the early years after the successful National Early Years Summit held in Canberra last fortnight.
Acting CEO, Sally Trudgen, who attended the Summit, said there was strong and consistent feedback from the sector to support the government’s agenda in rolling out an equitable, evidence-based and high-quality early years system for children in Australia.
“I’d like to congratulate the Federal Government for organising this Summit and genuinely listening to ECEC experts,” Ms Trudgen said.
“The National Summit showed the government has a genuine commitment to understanding the different nuances and perspectives in the sector from experts, professionals, parents and children,” she continued, noting the clear recognition that states and territories need to work together with the Federal Government to realise the full impact for children.
Ms Trudgen said the forthcoming early years strategy should ensure all Australian children, regardless of where they live or are born, have the same access to high quality ECEC.
“Convening the Summit and the delivery of the upcoming Strategy is an important first step to give Australians the vision for the future of the Early Years,” Ms Trudgen said.
“The next step is to work across departments and jurisdictions to ensure no one is left out and no one is left behind.”
“We are looking forward to an Early Years Strategy that reflects the input from sector experts, families and children which creates the political environment for inclusivity, no matter a child’s ability, where they were born or which family they were born into.”
