Childcare to be built as the cornerstone of new community in Ipswich
Construction of a new 136 place childcare centre will begin shortly, as part of the first stage of development for a new ‘village hub’ in housing development Waterlea at Walloon, west of the Queensland city of Ipswich.
The hub will be located at the entrance to the master planned community, and will also feature a cafe, market hall, and information centre, with construction to be managed by SP Partners on behalf of Wild Mint Properties.
Development Manager, James Betts, explained that Waterlea was “committed to providing key infrastructure within walking distance of all homes”, saying the village hub was “a major milestone.”
As well as the anticipated demand for childcare for the 1800 families expected to settle in Waterlea, the nearby Amberley RAAF base has more than 7,000 personnel who may wish to make use of the education and care facility.
Waterlea is the largest master planned community in the future urban Walloon-Thagoona development area, identified by Ipswich City Council with potential future population growth of 42,000 people.
More information about the Waterlea development is available here.
