Sue Robb joins Goodstart as GM of Pedagogy and Practice
Renowned UK early childhood leader Sue Robb OBE has been appointed to the newly created role of General Manager of Pedagogy and Practice at Australia’s largest early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider Goodstart Early Learning.
Previously, Ms Robb was Head of Early Learning at Action for Children in the UK where she led the delivery of the Department of Education’s partnership with the early years and childcare sector. Within this role, Ms Robb worked closely with both the government and the sector in implementing the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage, and associated effective evidence-based programs and sector initiatives that supported a quality uplift in the UK’s early years sector.
Ms Robb has also worked as a teacher in the UK, Philippines, Greece and the USA, in addition to being a school principal.
Goodstart said that the new role has been created to support the organisation’s objective of becoming a world leader in early years pedagogy and practice, and the appointment of Ms Robb follows an extensive local and international search. In her new role as General Manager of Pedagogy and Practice, Ms Robb will play a critical role at Goodstart working in collaboration with centres and centre support teams in improving outcomes for children.
Ms Robb said that she is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and continuing her own reflective learning. “All research is clear about the benefits of quality early learning experiences and that it truly enhances children’s learning as they enter school and future years,” she said.
“Research clearly shows the power of children accessing at least two years of early learning and care before school. Access to high-quality early learning is also an incredibly powerful means of transcending disadvantage.”
