This service is located on land where the traditional custodians are the Gadigal / Bidjigal people of the Eora Nation.



We are supporting a NFP community based service with a volunteer Parent Committee who are looking for an experienced professional to lead the service.

This Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) service in Sydney’s Kingsgrove Area are looking for a Director to lead their service.

About the role:

  • Lead the educators within the service.
  • Nominated Supervisor position.
  • Full time, 38 hours per week.
  • Block shifts.
  • Above award, approximately $41.50 ph minimum (pending qualification and experience) which is around $82K + pa, plus super.
  • Manage the day to day running of the service.
  • Create and maintain a positive culture within the service.
  • As a parent managed service, a high level of autonomy falls on the Director.
  • Be present at the service – families, children, educators, school and other stakeholders need to know you as the face of the service.
  • To ensure a strong bond is formed, attendance at school / P&C meetings as required.
  • Future plan for the service and its development to suit the needs of the school and the community.

 

About the service:

  • Own space on school grounds and access to other areas within the school and the school hall.
  • Operates before and after school care currently with the addition of vacation care planned to be added. This position will help lead the implementation of adding vacation care.
  • Licenced for approximately 130 children.
  • Uses QikKids for CCMS.
  • Recently went through Assessment & Rating (A&R), which gives you time to settle into the role before the next A&R.
  • Low staff turnover.
  • Approved Provider happy to take on board new organisational structure ideas that will work for the size of the service and for future strategic planning.
  • Not for profit, community based service with a Parent Committee as the Employer.

 

Criteria:

  • Certificate IV / Diploma in Out of School Hours Care, or any other relevant field, or above.
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of the NQF, NQS, My Time Our Place Framework, and keep up to date with the industry changes and developments.
  • Positive and understanding individual that is aware, open and mindful.
  • High emotional intelligence – someone that has self-awareness, empathy, motivation, self-regulation, social skills.
  • Acceptance of the Nominated Supervisor role.
  • Genuine compassion, care and interest for working with children.
  • Can communicate respectfully and effectively.
  • Can adapt to suit differing stakeholders in the community and communicate well with each.
  • Change mindset.
  • Strategic thinker and planner for the service.
  • Understanding of the changing needs of the OSHC profession and how to implement them in a service.
  • An understanding and support of continuous improvement.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in a similar environment, especially working with a parent management committee is highly desirable.
  • HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting or willingness to obtain (1 day training).
  • CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk – Accredited Child Protection or willingness to obtain (1 day training).
  • Criminal History Check.
  • Valid & current NSW Working With Children Check.

 

Child Safety:  Looking for an individual that understands, adheres and promotes The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. In your position, you will create a culture, adopt strategies and take action to promote child wellbeing and prevent harm to children and young people.
