Unlock the magic of colour, mirrors and shadows through a child’s eyes in this hands-on professional development workshop focused on optics and inquiry-based learning.
Presented by Little Scientists, this 3.5-hour session is ideal for educators looking to enhance their STEM teaching practice. The workshop supports both beginner and experienced educators and aligns with EYLF and NQF outcomes.
What you’ll learn
- How to integrate optics into early learning settings using everyday materials
- Strategies to develop and guide child-led inquiry projects
- How STEM exploration supports metacognitive development
- The educator’s role in project work as a “learning coach”
- How to use light, shadow and reflection as entry points into STEM discovery

- Create rainbows using soap bubbles, crystals and CDs
- Follow and manipulate shadows
- Build a shadow theatre and experiment with puppets

Who should attend
This workshop is suitable for all early childhood educators and teachers. No prior STEM knowledge is required.
