The Opportunity

The Senior Communications Advisor is responsible for proactively managing internal and external communication campaigns, ongoing communications activities, and use their communication experience and expertise to contribute to integrated project and event management.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, Community & Events, this role will cover a range of communications practice areas including, media relations, internal communication, social media, government relations, financial and corporate communications and has responsibility as the crisis delegate for the Head of Communications.

Your day-to-day

No two days are the same; this role is diverse, with depth and breadth to cement your career, now and into the future. Areas of core responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Contribute to the development of G8 Education’s integrated communications strategy.
• Lead and implement G8 Education’s strategic communication campaigns to build and maintain G8 Education’s reputation across audiences and channels.
• Provide timely and strategic advice to Senior leadership teams regarding reactive and proactive communication.
• Develop and coordinate proactive and reactive response to issues and events and act as the SIRT team delegate in the absence of the Head of Communications.
• Identify and optimise opportunities to protect and enhance G8 Education’s reputation.
• Ensure the quality of all G8 Education’s public relations and communication materials.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure objectives are achieved, collaborate and effectively manage initiatives.
• Contribute as a senior member to a high performing team to achieve G8 Education’s strategic objectives.
• Stay up to date on industry and sector trends and make continuous improvement recommendations.
• Manage and enhance the quality of internal content and channels to drive engagement.

We’re looking for an all-rounder who is excited about taking on unique challenges and projects. Some of the required skills and experiences to be successful in this role:

• 8+ years of experience in a PR and communications role ideally within a large-scale organisation.
• Bachelor's degree in, public relations, communications or a related field.
• You are prepared to get in and deliver work.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, as well as attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as outstanding copywriting and proofreading skills.
• Firm grasp on various communications platforms.
• Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
• You create structure in ambiguity while being flexible in how you drive outcomes.
• A team player with a strong desire to learn and grow and become part of a results-oriented team.
• Flexibility to undertake domestic travel and out of business hours communications is required.
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, a valid working with children check
