New professional learning program launched for NSW early childhood educators
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals in New South Wales can now access a free, flexible professional learning program designed to support career progression, strengthen leadership capabilities and workforce retention.
Launched as a partnership between the NSW Department of Education and TAFE NSW, the Early Childhood Education and Care Professional Learning Program offers a suite of online and in-person training opportunities, including workshops, leadership intensives, webinars and micro-skills. All content is tailored for early educators and teachers working across the state.
Grounded in real-world practice, the program recognises that professional learning must be accessible, relevant and support long-term career progression. Educators can choose from flexible delivery formats, including short online microskills, to suit their work and lifestyle.
Developed in consultation with early childhood educators and service leaders, the program includes:
- Face-to-face workshops featuring ECEC speakers and experts
- Leadership intensives focused on capability and confidence
- Interactive webinars and professional learning resources
- Networking opportunities and communities of practice
- 24/7 access to an online learning platform
The initiative forms part of the NSW Government’s broader workforce strategy, which seeks to strengthen attraction and retention through skills development and supportive pathways. It builds on TAFE NSW’s existing training programs, including vocational and tertiary qualifications in early childhood education.
